Report: Tottenham join Arsenal in race for Spanish centre-back

TEAMtalk have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to challenge Arsenal in the race for Valencia starlet Yarek Gasiorowski.

Gasiorowski, who came through Valencia’s youth system, has broken into the club’s first-team this season and has caught the eye in his seven La Liga appearances this season.

The 6ft 3in defender is a centre-back by trade but he has operated as a left-back in the Los Che senior set-up on a couple of occasions this season and has shown maturity beyond his years.

The 18-year-old has also featured 16 times for Spain at Under-19s level, having scored five goals, which is a phenomenal conversation rate for a central defender.

Arsenal’s interest in the teenager first came to light last month when AS reported that the Gunners were considering activating the player’s release clause, which stands at €20m (£17.5m).

Tottenham enter race for Valencia’s Gasiorowski

If TEAMtalk’s latest update is to be believed, the Gunners now face challenges from the Serie A as well as from closer to home, with Spurs and Juventus also eyeing moves for Gasiorowski.

The report adds that the interest of those aforementioned teams have spiked in light of the youngster’s recent displays, with a January move now being potentially on the cards.

It is revealed that while Gasiorowski is contracted at the Mestalla until 2025, Valencia have the option of extending his deal by another two years.

Spurs Web Opinion

Much like the Alejo Veliz, Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic deals, Tottenham might view Gasiorowski as one for the future. It would not surprise me if Spurs consider signing the Spaniard and loaning him back to Valencia for the remainder of the season.
