Report: Tottenham London derby in February has been postponed

PA Sport journalist George Sessions has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, which was initially scheduled for February 23, is now set to be postponed after the Blues sealed a spot in the Carabao Cup final.

Following their winter break, Spurs return to action this Friday with an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou’s men have quite a bust next month, with fixtures coming thick and fast. They were expected to travel to Stamford Bridge for their final game of February.

However, now that Chelsea have sealed their passage to the Carabao Cup final after thrashing Middlesbrough on Tuesday, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be in action at Wembley on February 25, with the London derby thus set to be postponed.

Tottenham vs Chelsea will be played at a later date

The Premier League are yet to announce when Spurs’ trip to West London will be rescheduled but Sessions explained that the Lilywhites might instead be in FA Cup action in the final weekend of February if they overcome Man City and book their place in the next round.

It would not be ideal to have the fixture against Chelsea pushed to April or May as Tottenham already have quite a difficult end to the season. The rearrangement of the various fixtures will be influenced by how deep Spurs go in the FA Cup.
