Report: Tottenham target set to sign new contract with Premier League club

In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon, The Daily Mail have revealed that he is set to commit his future to Everton.

After failing with an approach for Gordon in the summer (Lyall Thomas), multiple reports have played up the possibility of Spurs reigniting their interest in the winger in January (Football.London).

The Daily Express reported last month that Antonio Conte sees the Everton star as an option for the right wing-back role.

The report added that despite Chelsea also monitoring the England Under-21 international, Spurs might have an advantage over their London rivals in the race as they look more likely to finish in the top four this season.

Journalist Paul Brown was the latest to report on Tottenham’s pursuit of Gordon until now, with the journalist telling GiveMeSport two weeks ago that Conte sees ‘something special’ in the youngster.

However, The Mail have now suggested that the Toffees academy graduate is expected to stay put at Goodison Park. The report states that both Gordon and Alex Iwobi now look set to put pen to paper on new contracts at Everton.

The fact that the speculation linking Gordan with a move to Spurs had died down a bit over the past couple of weeks, did suggest that the move had perhaps fallen through. So, this update from the Mail about the 21-year-old being set to sign a new deal, has now come out of the blue.
