Report: Tottenham would have to pay £34m to sign Bundesliga star

Fussball News have claimed that Eintracht Frankfurt are fearful that William Pacho’s stay at the club would be short-lived amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Pacho arrived at Frankfurt last summer on the back of a breakthrough season at Royal Antwerp and the young defender has been able to seamlessly make the step up to German football.

The 22-year-old has started every single Bundesliga game at Deutsche Bank Park this season (Transfermarkt) and is quickly emerging as one of the best young centre-backs in the division.

Tottenham’s interest in the Ecuadorian came to light earlier this week when journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to social media to reveal that the Lilywhites have been watching the youngster closely and have even sought information bout his availability.

He added that Ange Postecoglou’s men are expected to face plenty of competition from their Premier League rivals for the central defender’s services next summer.

Frankfurt are fearful of losing William Pacho

Fussball News have now also referenced Tottenham’s interest in the former Royal Antwerp star and they say that Frankfurt are fearful that he could exit the club at the end of the season.

The report adds that the officials at the German club fear that Pacho could ‘quickly take a next step’, given how well he has performed this season.

However, it is alleged that despite signing the defender for just €9m (£7.6m) last summer, Frankfurt would demand €40m (£34.1m) to let the player leave.

It is too early to speculate on which centre-backs Tottenham will pursue next summer. The decision will likely be influenced by how well Ashley Phillips does at Port Vale and whether Postecoglou believes the 18-year-old is ready for a first-team role at Spurs next season.
