Report details Tottenham’s favourable Micky Van de Ven payment terms

The Times have reported that Tottenham Hotspur will only pay €30m in guaranteed fees for Micky Van de Ven this summer (£25.9m).

David Ornstein revealed earlier in the week that the Lilywhites had agreed on a total €50m (£43.1m) fee with Wolfsburg for the central defender, which included add-ons. However, the breakdown of these add-ons was not included.

Spurs negotiate favourable terms for Van de Ven

The Times now report that Spurs will pay €30m for the Netherlands U21 international, as well as another €20m (£17.3m) if ‘various clauses are met’.

Van de Ven was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch his new side beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 yesterday in a pre-season friendly, and is scheduled to have his medical today.

The centre-back would become signing number six for the Lilywhites, after Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro’s loans were turned into permanent deals, and James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon were welcomed through the Hotspur Way doors.

Spurs Web Opinion:

The total fee may be higher than some were expecting, but the terms seem very favourable for Spurs. I would imagine that even the main fee will be paid over a number of years too. All that matters is Ange Postecoglou finally has his new centre-back in before the season starts.
