Report: Two Premier League clubs are in talks with Spurs about signing 22-year-old

According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Brighton and Brentford are both keen on signing Bryan Gil on loan from Tottenham.

Over the last week, various Italian outlets have reported that Gil has emerged as one of Lazio’s top targets, with Maurizio Sarri alleged to be a big fan of the Spaniard (Quotidiano Sportivo).

It has now emerged that the Serie A side are facing competition from a couple of Premier League sides for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Brighton and Brentford step forward

While reporting on Lazio’s pursuit of the player, Corriere say that the winger seems ‘destined’ to stay in the Premier League after the Bees and the Seagulls stepped forward.

The outlet alleges that the South Coast club and the West London side are currently ‘negotiating’ a loan deal with Tottenham for Gil, but the publication does not say which of the two clubs have the upper hand at the moment.

A loan move to a Premier League side would be ideal for Gil as it would give the youngster a chance to finally get acclimatised to English football and demonstrate that he can handle the physicality of the competition.

While Brighton’s style of play would certainly suit the 22-year-old better, he is more likely to get regular game time at Brentford, which will be a big consideration for Spurs.
