Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs player will leave as a free agent

Tottenham Hotspur look set for a busy summer of transfer activity as Ange Postecoglou continues to remodel his side ahead of the next campaign.

Ryan Sessegnon has experienced yet another frustrating injury-hit season which has seen the left-sided player fail to have the opportunity to impress Postecoglou.

Sessegnon had an operation on his right hamstring on back in February after the 24-year-old suffered a muscle injury in action for Spurs’ Under-21s on February 17 in a fixture which he was using to build up his fitness ahead of a return to the Tottenham first-team set-up.

It was the second time Sessegnon ha been operated on during the past 12 months, but significantly the previous surgery in July was on his left hamstring.

The former Fulham player has struggled with muscle injuries over recent seasons and it looks as if his time at Tottenham could be coming to an end.

Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media platform X to reveal that Sessegnon will leave Tottenham as a free agent when his contract expires.

The England Under-21 international is hoping to remain in the Premier League and is attracting interest from English clubs as well as those on the continent.

Alasdair Gold has also added that Spurs have passed up the opportunity to trigger a twelve month extension with Sessegnon’s current deal expiring this summer.

Ryan Sessegnon will leave Tottenham as a free agent

Romano wrote: “Understand Ryan Sessegnon will leave Spurs as free agent as expected, time to part ways with the left back.

“It’s already plenty of interest across England and Europe for Sessegnon, but player’s preference is to stay in the Premier League.”

Sessegnon managed just two appearances for Tottenham this season, one apiece in the Premier League and FA Cup which equated to just 44 minutes of football (transfermarkt).

An exit would be right both Tottenham and Sessegnon in a bid for the player to get his career back on track after such a promising start at Fulham.

Given his history track record, it would seem unlikely that any club would be prepared to pay a fee for him this summer and it is the right option that the club have not taken up the extra year’s option

Destiny Udogie has clearly established himself as Tottenham’s first-choice left back and there needs to be an addition this summer in the positon with Ben Davies struggling to play in Postecoglou’s style.
