‘Slow burner’ – Postecoglou provides update on Ndombele and Spurs squad ahead of Lion City match

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tanguy Ndombele is available for selection for tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Lion City Sailors.

The French international missed the 3-2 defeat against West Ham United after sustaining an ankle injury during a training session in the build up to the match in Perth and was also not part of Postecoglou‘s match day squad for the planned Leicester City fixture in Thailand, which ended up being postponed following heavy rainfall.

Postecoglou was asked for an update on the availability of his squad at today’s press conference and admitted that young striker Dane Scarlett is expected to once again sit out the match due to his own injury issues.

The Australian revealed that he was planning to give more or less his whole squad some minutes against their Singapore opponents, however, the Leicester postponement means that he will instead revert to two different starting XI’s in each half.

Ndombele is fit and available to face Lion City Sailors

He told Football.London: “Everyone’s good – Dane Scarlett is the one who has been struggling with a bit of injury. But he sort of trained this morning, he probably won’t be available tomorrow. Tanguy was the other one who’s been a slow burner but now he’s back training so he’s available as well. So yeah in terms of health wise, I think everyone’s fit.

“Again, I think tomorrow I won’t use everyone. With us missing a game, this was the game where I was going to give game time to just about everyone in the squad but with us missing a game I’ll probably still focus on the guys who need a game. So I’ll probably do two two elevens again, which means some will miss out but they’ll do some work and then we’ve got a full week of training after that.”

I would not hold out too much hope for those looking to see Ndombele in action tomorrow if today’s opening training session was anything to go by. The midfielder was not part of the 11 vs 11 match session and instead trained separately with the likes of Djed Spence and Harvey White in a different area of the pitch.
