Spurs are exploring whether they can get a discount price for striker – Journalist reports

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has said that while Tottenham Hotspur have identified Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, the North London club are not willing to pay the fee that Juventus are demanding for the Serbian.

Over the past two weeks, multiple sources have talked up Tottenham’s interest in Vlahovic, who has struggled to live up to his expectations since his switch to Juve 18 months ago.

This includes an update from Foot Mercato (July 12), which claimed that the Old Lady have made up their minds to cash in on the centre-forward, adding that Spurs had identified the player as their top target to replace Kane if the England captain leaves the club this summer.

The report also asserted that the Serie A giants valued the forward at €70m (£60m).

Tottenham want a better price on Dusan Vlahovic

Galetti has now stated that Juve are actually demanding 80m (£68.6m) for Vlahovic, with the Lilywhites said to be exploring the possibility of lowering the Bianconeri’s asking price.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “As just told, Tottenham are targeting Dusan Vlahovic as replacement number one in the event of the farewell of Harry Kane.

“The Serbian player could leave Juventus in the summer transfer window for around €80m and the Bianconeri are absolutely open to listen to proposals for him.

“Spurs are on the verge of taking the first steps to better understand the room for negotiation with the Italian club, because the price tag is considered too high. Tottenham would like to lower the request during talks.”

Juventus cannot expect to get anywhere close to £70m for Vlahovic. That is likely just the Old Lady’s starting position in the negotiations.

In fact, given the Serie A side’s financial problems, I do not think they would be in a position to reject an offer of £50m-£55m for the former Fiorentina man this summer.
