The 8 Spurs players going to Euro 2024 and Copa America, and a look at who is left behind

Tottenham Hotspur will likely have three players taking part in the Copa America this summer, and a further five representing their countries at Euro 2024, but Pedro Porro will not be one of them.

The Premier League season has come to an end, but plenty of players will be without a rest for some time yet, as international football kicks off.

For 24 teams across Europe, the Euro 2024 tournament will begin on June 14, running through to July 14, with the competition taking place in Germany.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, South American teams will take part in the Copa America, with Argentina looking to defend their crown.

Which Spurs players are involved in Euro 2024?

It’s looking like eight Spurs players will take part in Euro 2024 and Copa America, though final squads for most nations have not been confirmed yet.

James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Micky van de Ven are all in the provisional squads for England, Italy, and the Netherlands, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Radu Dragusin are thought to be nailed on for spots in the Denmark and Romania squads.

As for Copa America, there’s a place in the preliminary Argentina squad for both Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso. Rodrigo Bentancur is also very likely to make it into the Uruguay squad.

Who is staying back at Hotspur Way?

The most prominent and surprising exclusion from any squad is the fact Pedro Porro has not been selected by Spain for Euro 2024. After a fine season with Spurs, many expected the full-back to be involved.

Timo Werner did not make it into Germany’s squad for the tournament. Destiny Udogie sadly misses out for Italy due to injury.

Richarlison and Emerson Royal missed out on call-ups for the Brazil squad for Copa America, too, with the former struggling for fitness and the latter being left out on form.

Wales and Sweden didn’t qualify for Euro 2024, so the likes of Joe Rodon, Brennan Johnson, Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski, and new signing Lucas Bergvall will stay at Hotspur Way with the rest of the squad, though they will have international friendlies with their respective nations during the course of the summer, too.
