Tottenham star has told former teammates he wants to return to old club – Journalist reports

Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi has claimed that Ivan Perisic regrets swapping Inter Milan for Tottenham a year ago and is keen to return to the San Siro this summer.

It has been reported widely in various British outlets over the past couple of weeks that Perisic is one of many first-team players who are expected to be offloaded by Tottenham this summer as part of their mass clear-out (The Athletic).

It emerged earlier this month that the 34-year-old was of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs as well as Fenerbahce (Ben Jacobs – Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel).

However, this information was contradicted by Hajduk Split president Luksa Jakobusic, who told Croatian publication Vercenji a couple of days ago that although Perisic wants to return to his boyhood club, Tottenham are blocking the move.

Jakobusic alleged that Ange Postecoglou does not want to lose the wing-back as there are very few players in the Spurs squad who are as versatile as him.

Ivan Perisic wants to return to Inter Milan

Perisic has travelled to Australia for pre-season with the Tottenham squad but Barzaghi has now claimed that he has already made up his mind to leave the North London club.

The journalist asserted that the Croatian international has confided in his former Inter teammates that he seeks a return to the Nerazzurri.

Barzaghi said on his YouTube channel (as relayed by FcInter1908): “He (Perisic) too would like to return (to Inter Milan), above all because he understood that Conte is leaving at the end of the season, and things could get even more complicated for him.

“He, like Hakimi himself, as they confide to his former teammates, would like to return. And they eat their hands a bit: I don’t think Perisic expected such a modest adventure in the Premier League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Postecoglou has taken Perisic to Australia for pre-season might not mean much as it is clear that the new Spurs boss did not want to leave any senior players out of the touring party.

I would be extremely surprised if the 34-year-old ends up staying as I do not see him as a good fit for Postecoglou’s system.
