‘Tricky game’ – Chris Sutton predicts the score for Tottenham vs West Ham

Chris Sutton has said that while he expects Tottenham to return to winning ways against West Ham, he warned Ange Postecoglou’s men that they will not have everything their own way against their rivals.

Spurs go into Thursday evening’s clash with renewed confidence after fighting back from a goal down twice at the Etihad Stadium to walk away with a deserved point.

Ange Postecoglou has been boosted by a return of a couple of players, with Richarlison available for selection and with Cristian Romero now having served his three-match suspension.

Even though Tottenham lost their last two home matches against Chelsea and Aston Villa, they were excellent in patches in both games and could have blown their opponents away had they been a little more clinical in the final third.

However, Sutton pointed out that David Moyes’ men like playing on the counter-attack against teams who dominate possession and commit bodies forward.

The former Celtic star predicted another high-scoring game on Thursday and backed Spurs to edge out their London rivals.

Sutton told BBC Sport: “This is a tricky game for Spurs because their manager Ange Postecoglou likes going toe to toe with teams and West Ham boss David Moyes just won’t let that happen.

“The Hammers beat Brighton in September with only 22% possession and they would obviously be very happy to try for a repeat of that here. They will defend very deep, and look to spring forward.

“There will come a time when Spurs blow away a team or two with the way that they play, but I am not convinced that will happen here. I do think they will beat West Ham, but I don’t think it will be a straightforward victory.”

Prediction: 3-2 to Tottenham

Spurs Web Opinion

If we can take our chances, I believe we can potentially blow West Ham away. This game is absolutely huge for us as failure to get three points would mean that we blow most of the momentum we have built as a result of the morale-boasting comeback against Man City.
