Jamie Carragher is astonished at the reports suggesting that Chelsea are willing to sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur.
Over the past few weeks, Spurs Web has relayed a whole host of reports which have suggested that Chelsea have now put Gallagher up for sale and that the Lilywhites are ready to pounce on the 23-year-old, having failed with a move for him last summer (talkSPORT).
The speculation has intensified further over the last couple of days, with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming over the weekend that the two London clubs have begun talks over the England international and that an agreement of around £40m could be struck.

Carragher confused by Gallagher to Spurs rumours
These rumours have already garnered some strong reactions from pundits, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink urging the Chelsea hierarchy against the idea of selling Gallagher (Amazon Prime Sport – 7:08 pm, 27 December).
The Dutchman pointed out that not only is the midfielder a key player for Mauricio Pochettino but he also adds a lot to the side from a leadership perspective.
Carragher has now become the latest pundit to question the logic of selling Gallagher, pointing to the idea as an example of the incompetence of the Blues’ owners.
Spurs Web Opinion
One would hope that the Chelsea board do not change their stance on Gallagher as a result of all the negative reactions from fans and pundits. Tottenham should perhaps look to strike a deal as soon as they can as they might not get another opportunity to sign the 23-year-old.
