‘When the time comes’ – Postecoglou speaks again on Chris Davies’ future

Ange Postecoglou chose to bat away questions about Chris Davies’ future, remarking following Tottenham’s win over Newcastle that everyone at the North London club is focused solely on the upcoming fixtures.

It first emerged last Wednesday that Davies, who joined Tottenham in the summer as the senior assistant coach, is the subject of interest from Swansea City, who are on the lookout for a new manager (Wales Online).

It subsequently emerged that the Championship club reached out to Spurs about the 38-year-old but the North London club rejected their approach (Matt Law).

However, a couple of days ago, The Independent suggested that despite Tottenham’s rebuff, Swansea are still not giving up in their pursuit of Davies, who is yet to make a decision on his future.

This was seemingly confirmed by Postecoglou himself on Thursday, with the Australian saying that the decision was in Davies’ hands (Football.London).

Postecoglou is not thinking about Chris Davies’ future

The Tottenham head coach has decided to keep his cards close to his chest when asked again about Davies’ future after his side’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.

When quizzed on Swansea’s interest in his assistant, he told Football.London: “Ah mate I have not thought about that, not for an instance. I doubt Chris has as well. We will deal with that when the time comes.

“This is the Premier League and if you’re not in it 100 per cent, if you slip a little bit, you will pay a price and our focus has firmly been on a strong performance tonight and getting a result.”

Based on Ange’s responses, it appears as if Davies is seriously considering the offer and is perhaps even speaking to Swansea. If the 38-year-old had made it clear that he wanted to stay at Spurs, Postecoglou would have confirmed the same to the media.
